On September 27, families gathered in Apladalen, Värnamo, to celebrate Äpplets Dag (Apple Day) — the first event of its kind in Värnamo in over 400 years. The playful and creative celebration invited the local community, from young to old, to explore local apple varieties through taste, storytelling, and play.
Apladalen, a historic park renowned for its ancient apple trees and open-air museum, holds a significant place in Värnamo’s cultural heritage. The idea for the event was born from a desire to reconnect people with local nature, food traditions, and biodiversity. With more than 25 public apple trees, the park provided the perfect setting for this community-focused celebration.
Visitors took part in a series of interactive stations, including an apple exhibition, recipe lab, applemos making, label printing, and an apple play zone, discovering new ways to learn through creativity, play, and local stories
