Söders Smaker is a participatory food and art project that explores the diverse food cultures of Söder, Helsingborg, through children's eyes. The project brings together food, memories and personal stories to celebrate the people and cultures that shape the neighbourhood.

Concept sketch for 'Söders Smaker' 2025 by Prachi Patil

Through creative workshops, children explored food, shared their own stories, and collected food memories and stories from adults. They brought these stories to life through drawings and postcards, placing children's voices and perspectives at the heart of the project.
The children's drawings and stories were transformed into a collection of postcards, offering a glimpse into the many flavours, memories and traditions that make up Söder's food culture.
The stories and creative process from the project became part of the permanent exhibition at Gustav Adolfs torg in Helsingborg.
The exhibition opening brought together children, residents and collaborators to celebrate the food stories collected throughout the project. By presenting the children's postcards in a public space, the opening gave their voices and artwork a place in the cultural life of Söder. It created an opportunity for visitors to discover the neighbourhood's diverse food traditions, share memories and connect across generations and cultural backgrounds. The exhibition made the children's contributions visible and showed how their perspectives can help shape the story and identity of their neighbourhood.
